You could have been right about the warning if it were just OOo that is
performing this way. But ... Excel has had this since I think version
5.0 where it introduced multiple worksheets in the same workbook. So the
user could have known better. Also I agree that if you start using a new
software tool or even a TV, you should take time to get to know it. If
you want to experiment do it safely. Finally a company installing a new
software tool should calculate the cost of training in the migration
project, because employees will benefit from it and in the end the company.
Cutting it short: don't blame OOo for unknowing users if you didn't want
to spend time on educating them first. There's a whole list of issues
that diserve to be resolved before the developers even look at this remark.

If I want to play if formal, then yes - it is in Help.
Unfortunatly, reading Help before performing trivial actions like
selecting several sheets or typing text is not a habbit of average Joe
user. Providing insructor-led training on all OO gotchas is expensive in
terms of both money and time (lost productivity), and even that would
not stop user from shooting himself in foot.
Based on this I believe that it is application should at least warn user
that data loss will happen.
I have filed RFE asking for warning
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70320 .
Thanks.

Subject: Re: [users] Calc, Select All Sheets - data entry
goes to all sheets?
It is a feature. In certain contexts, where it is necessary
to select several sheets (such as for printing), Help warns
against entering data while the sheets are selected.

Hello.
One of my users just was hit by the following behavior - in
Calc, with
several sheets selected, type any text in any cell. Note how it is
entered in all sheets. Is this a bug, bug-o-feature or
really usefull
feature? It caused data loss for the user in my case.
Thanks a lot.
