Dear OpenOffice,

I have just installed OOo 2.0.3 in my computer running Mandriva Linux.

Before, with other versions of OOo, I don't remember exactly wich ones, I
had no problems with the fonts, but now the fonts look bad. Not only the
ones I installed from MS as Arial, Verdana, but even Times New Roman,
etc...

I have been reading a lot of documentation and questions in different
forums, but there seems to be no solution for this issue.

I am always using OOo, but I really think you should consider this issue as
number one, because it is really important to be able to work with nice
characters in the screen.

I hope your next update of OOo will solve this problem.

Let me understand what you are saying.. Linux fonts look bad, so OO should fix that.. Well I have been on Linux for the last 5 years exclusively and fonts look just fine. I have no issues.. I suggest you get your font issues resolved or change your distro so they automatically get resolved for you. I don't think this is an OO issue.. Fred

Santiago.

Fred, do you use Times New Roman, Arial and Verdana? They did not come with my Open Office. The fonts that do come w/my open office just do not look as good as the true type fonts. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Companys that recieve professional correspondence expect to see fonts such as Times New Roman, etc. They will route documents w/ other fonts to the round file. You might as well do the document with Crayons. In fact many companys use scanners to read correspondence, and the scanner will immediately reject anything that is not in certain fonts.
