Jim, I received your file. Thanks so much for taking the time.

It appears you have a 2 column table, with each verse occupying a
row. I think I could adapt that to my needs. I discovered that
probably the best way to get around the problem of inserting text
in the middle of a cell that is tall due to an adjoining cell
containing a lot of text is to enable Live Cursor, speccing it to
the least-powerful option, paragraph justification, or whatever
it's called. That way I can plop in subheadings at will wherever
I want. I don't like using Direct Cursor, however.

BTW, I'm trying to create a note-taking template to study the
same book you evidently are working with, the Bible.
