I'm sorry to hear that you're blaming OpenOffice for the loss of data
that you suffered. Unfortunately, this could happen with any software,
paid for or free. When you are working on a project that's important to
you it is highly recommended that you save frequently.
After a crash normally the autorecover function of OpenOffice recovers
the document for you, but even then some dataloss is not excluded.
I sincerely hope that after you've come over your dataloss, you will
start using OpenOffice again. It still is a wonderfull piece of software.
