2006/10/29, Sascha Sauer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I am using a German Mac w OS X v 10.4.8 and wanting to install OO 2.0. It always tells me that I have to install Apple X11 first. Have installed Xcode Tools from Apple DVD already but still get the same message. Where is the problem? Does anybody know how to handle it? Thanx Sascha
Dear Sascha Xcode isn't the same as X11. Xcode is a tool for software developers, X11 provides an environment in which you can run certain programs, such as OOo, on a Mac with OS X. You will find X11user.pkg on the Tiger installation DVD, among other packages. You click on the package to install (its place is Applications/Help Applications). After X11 is installed, OOo should start without causing any more problems (though maybe not run as fast as you like). In case of more problems: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/faq/installing/X11.html mind also the X11 preferences (disable full screen mode, enable Millions of Colours) good luck! -- Guy
