It is indeed trough Tools -> Option -> Paths that you can add the path to your templates. To do so you select Templates in the list, then Edit, en then add, you have to add the new path and select it as the default. I just tried, and it works very well. I will implement this in our office next Thursday as this is the way we work also.

side note: at our office we decided to migrate from WP to OOo, until now with success, almost every functionality of WP has been replaced by OOo, except until now the text-merge functionality of WP, but we find something, I am sure of that!
