Use MD5 to verify the integrity of the file you downloaded. Assuming you are 
using Windows, instructions for doing this are under the section relevant to 
Windows at http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html

If the file passes that test then, before installing, disconnect from the 
internet and  turn off your Anti Virus (AV) and firewall software. Those can 
often interfere with software installation; nothing to do with OOo.

Don't re-connect to the internet until both your AV and firewall software are 
running properly again.
