Possibly check the language setting for the table contents characters.
Select your text then Right-click -> Character -> Font (tab) ->
Language. It may be different to the text outside the table.
OOo allows you to set different languages for individual or groups of
characters (e.g. foreign words or phrases) in documents, and this
determines spelling check behaviour. If there is no dictionary for the
specified language, or the language is set to "None", then spell
checking is skipped for those characters.

Make sure that the language of the table contents are the same as the
language
you want to use for spellchecking.
