OpenOffice 2.0.4 not work (hang) on Mac Intel on MacOS X 10.4.8 with
the new update X11
without the workaround described on the OpenOffice home page for Mac
to disable the vera fonts (iMac Intel, MacBook pro, Mac pro for
example)
It work with the same system with X11 updated on PPC Mac (iMac G5,
iBook G4, eMac for example).

Subject: [users] use with MAC OS X
The OpenOffice web site constantly states that OpenOffice is usable
on "MAC OS X (requires X11)". Nowhere in Apple literature do I find
any reference to X11. I am using a MAC MINI with OS X v10.4. Will
OpenOffice run on this system?
Definitely OpenOffice 2.0.4 will run on your Mac Mini. However,
please
do not upgrade the X11 program after you install it. There are broken
font files that will stop OpenOffice.org from functioning as well
as other
programs. This issue is being fixed by Apple and there is another
issue
being worked by the OpenOffice.org team to disable the use of X11
fonts
on the MacOSX platform (and maybe other platforms as well.)
If you have difficulities using or installing OpenOffice.org on
your Mac please
refer to the FAQ located at http://porting.openoffice.org/mac
