When you install OpenOffice, it asks you whether you want to associate MS Office files with OpenOffice. In order to not associate these MS Office file types, you must uncheck the appropriate boxes before continuing. Many people do not read this dialog properly, and simply click on “OK". Once this association has been made, though, there are several ways to re-association the files with MSOffice. Go into your file types setting(it should be under either “Tools” or “Folder Options”) from one of the windows in “My Computer”. Then delete the association for .doc, .xls, and any other file types that you do not want associated with OpenOffice. When you next click on a file of that type (such as .doc or .xls), it will ask you what you want to use to open it. Click on word, excel, or whatever you want to use. You will also be given the option to select always use this application to open the file type. How come when I double click on a file it now opens in OpenOffice instead of my old word processor ? Please see the answer of the previous question. -- God bless you, Keith Bates 4 Mooloobar St Narrabri NSW 2390 Phone: 02 67924890 Fax: 02 67925418 www.new-life.org.au If you don't have a reason to live JESUS IS THE ANSWER!
