Good news that you want to drop MS office. One small caveat. If you use Outlook Express or (I think) Outlook for e-mail and you unistall MS office you will lose the ability to spellcheck your messages. There are spellcheckers out there that integrate with Outlook Express. I use ABCSpell from www.abcspell.com. It's not free and I think only works with Outlook Express. No, I'm not connected with the company ;-)

Alternatively you could throw Outlook [Express] away and use a different e-mail program. I'm told Thunderbird (freeware) is good. You can get it at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/
