This is occurring because you are running an anti-virus program
while installing OpenOffice.org. Viruses write items in the Registry
files, so anti-virus programs are designed to stop that from
happening. When you install a program, it also writes items in the
Registry. Hence, the problem. Firewalls sometimes will cause a
problem also probably for the same reason.
The solution requires five steps done in the following order:
1) Disconnect the computer from the Internet.
2) Close your anti-viral program and firewall.
3) Install OpenOffice.org.
4) Start your anti-viral program and firewall.
5) Reconnect to the Internet.
