The FAQ about starting Calc says (in its entirety)
How can I start Calc instead of Writer ?
By passing “-calc” as an argument on the command line.
I've just installed OpenOffice.org 2.0.app for Mac OS X (with X11).
When (in Mac OS 10.4) I double-click "OpenOffice.org 2.0.ap",
I get a little blue window headed "OpenOffice.org" and another window
for Writer,
and a terminal window.
The little blue window apparently contains one button, apparently a
script that launches Writer. But nothing else.
1) Is there really no corresponding button for the other modules?
2) The instruction "pass -calc as the argument" doesn't say argument
TO WHAT.
In the terminal window, entering:
/Applications/OpenOffice.org\ 2.0.app [-calc]
gets you only the error message
: /Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.0.app/: is a directory
(In fact it's a package, which to Unix looks like a directory,
but doesn't act like a single object to the Mac OS Finder.)
3) Is there a simple way to edit the OpenOffice script to provide it
a button that invokes the appropriate module (Calc, Write, Draw,
Impress, etc)?
Clues would be appreciated...
