Rumour would be correct I believe. Although as I understand it, present 
programs should mostly run under vista.

However, I've recently been taking a very serious look at alternatives 
to Redmond's wares.  Ubuntu linux in particular installed /very/ 
smoothly (even on a usb drive on my wireless, widescreen laptop) and 
offers all "amenities" so to speak (incl OOo) straight off the install 
DVD (which is also a "LiveDVD" so you can try it at zero risk). And 
it's /Free/ - although it might take a while to download over a dial-up 
line :-) :-).

This is one punter that won't be buying son of XP.
