To Users and web kracked: Who cares? If XP is discontinued by MSFT, I can still use it on my computer, and I happen to know my system will still be protected. In fact most of the viruses and worms have been caused by MSFT, so the third party program is the only thing making my machine workable!!!!!!! Now, if you want to buy me and several others the bug ridden upgrade out of YOUR pocket, go to it!!I have a 91 yr. old mom who needs my support because Medicare is even worse than my pension!!! Gates and Ballmy can go jump into the lake!! :-(

To USERS: The best advice is to ignore VISTA entirely! It is time Ballmer and Gates learn the public is tired of the constant upgrading without complete mastery of the level they already are at! If Business is stupid enough to buy it, that is their problem, but I, for one can no longer support the rich with my fixed income, nor, I am sure, can many others who only use a home computer for letter writing and checkbook and other minor functions! I use Windows XP with sp2, only because someone told me it really was an improvement and that some programs will not work in Windows 98SE. I am NOW at a very stable position in software, to include OOo 2.0.4 and some other software, that I can NEVER forsee a need to upgrade, nor will under any circumstances. I also use Novell SuSe 10.1 on a seperate computer, though, as it has no voice dictation, with IBM betraying the Linux community! :-(

I downloaded the Vista hardware/software testing
program. It took a while to run, but Vista
had no problems with OOo, according to the software testing system.

Go to Microsoft's site and download it for yourself.
Also the best advice is to wait 6 months or more before
you upgrade - so the bugs and "dirt" get cleaned up.

To: Whom it may concern

I am a user of your Open Office 2.0 and find it a nice alternative to
Microsofts products. But eventhough I have chosen your Office product, I have to admmit that I find myself quite in the palm of their hands when it
comes to operating system. Rumour has it that this huge company is
planning new rise in income, that is to say, the launch of Windows Vista
in the nearest future. My question to you: Will you provide an Open
Office for this new operating system?

Rumour would be correct I believe. Although as I understand it, present
programs should mostly run under vista.

However, I've recently been taking a very serious look at alternatives
to Redmond's wares. Ubuntu linux in particular installed /very/
smoothly (even on a usb drive on my wireless, widescreen laptop) and
offers all "amenities" so to speak (incl OOo) straight off the install
DVD (which is also a "LiveDVD" so you can try it at zero risk). And
it's /Free/ - although it might take a while to download over a dial-up
line :-) :-).

This is one punter that won't be buying son of XP.
