OpenOffice.org can open MS Word files. The resulting file may not
look exactly the same as the original Word. If the Word file is only
text with little formatting, They should look the same. When complex
formatting is used, there will be differences.
OpenOffice.org does not open MS Works files. It would have to be
converted to a MS Word file first for OpenOffice.org to open it.
If you have MS Word and MS Works programs on your computer you
could also open these files with their respective programs and then
copy and paste them into OOo.
OOo can also save files in the MS Word format (.doc). So, you
could send others files in this format. Or you could send them the
files in PDF format which only requires Acrobat Reader to view.
I assume that you do not usually write the same way this email is
written: extraneous capital letters. Please refrain from doing so in
the future.
If your native language is different from English, please go to
www.openoffice.org and click on Native Language. This will open a web
page where you can probably find your language. There are mailing
lists for most languages as well.
