I'm a new user of OOo v2.0.4 & recent convert from M$ $oftware. I've found a problem, or possible bug, with hidden text in Writer. For years I've kept & updated a family phone book in MS Office 2002 & previous versions of MS Word. I periodically update the contents & print a new copy for my wife & I to have when away from home. In recent years I've also been storing passwords in my "Phones.doc" file & I use MS Word's hidden text feature so they're not printed out. I also password protect the "Phones.doc" file to secure my account numbers & passwords.

I've been a DOS & Windows user/hobbyist since 1987. I built a new PC last month. I'm using the current versions of free AVG, free Ad-Aware, trial Ewido, free Spybot S&D, & keep all up-to-date online. Plus the onboard hardware firewall on my Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G motherboard & the bundled ActiveArmor software firewall. I have not installed any Micro$oft program$ on this PC other than the OS. It's a stand-alone desktop with only a dialup web connection (rural area; I hate it!)

Yesterday, I copied the "Phones.doc" file to my new WinXP SP-2 computer with OOo v2.0.4 already installed. Upon opening my "Phones.doc" file, I had no trouble viewing & printing the document in OOo Writer, nor saving it as either "Phones.doc" or "Phones.odt". However, I noticed the hidden text was missing from both newly saved files.

Am I missing something, being a novice user of Writer, or could this be a bug in OOo?
