Remove those icons from the toolbar and use Data >Sort. That will give
you control over the manner of sorting.
You may have to use formulas such as those suggested by Claudia to get
the sort you want.

What you are illustrating is not alphabetic, but numeric sorting. In
that case you should have your items named A001, A002... A010, ...A100
(if the numbers do not exceed 999). The usual problem with alphabetic
sorting is national characters, where in some languages, letters with
accents have a special place in the alphabet, in other languages they
do not have one.

A friend suggested I try OpenOffice.org to be able to do a true
alpha numeric sort that I am not able to do in Excel.
I am not sure how to do that. Using the icons at the top of the
browser window, I am not getting what I would like.
I want A1 - A100 to sort that way rather than A13, A14, A2.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
