Where did you get the X11?
There is an X11 on the tiger install disk which is designed for the Tiger, while the X11 on the Apple site is for Panther.
There is an update for the tiger X11 on the Apple site.
The Mac OS does not install the X11. At least there is an X11 there.

The unit runs fine with the proper preparation.

Do you get a window at all--besides the "xterm" window? If you do get a window, the menus are all inside the window (like in Linux and Windows), not on the top bar like true Mac OSX applications. The file menu on the window should have options for other applications.

If you don't get a window, try bringing X11 to the front and checking in its pulldown menus (which are in the normal place) to see if you can find a way to open a window.

Subject: [users] X11 installed on Mac iBook4 Open Office "starts" but menu doesn't show any applications

First of all, I really like using O/O on my Linux and Windows systems. Good job guys.

I am using the version on the site as of today's date (December 5, 2006).

I followed in the instructions on the website, installed X11, dragged the downloaded O/O file into the applications folder. When I start it, there is an Open Office on the pulldown menus but no applications listed inside.

What might I be doing wrong ?

Thank you
