No response of any authority from either quarter so far.

It means repeating the year's course, so she needs to get an answer from someone. Could one of the developers' lists be an appropriate place to ask?

Either method should assist an answer to be forthcoming.

If there are specifics about the persons problem (including OOo
version, OS, etc...) then post to the list where someone can assist.

At a high level, if a read only/open password is applied to a file
using Excel, the file is then opened and re-saved using Calc, the read
only/open protection is removed. There is a warning dialog popped to
the user advising them of this when they save.

Can anyone help a lady who has suffered as a result of using Calc to
open an .xls spreadsheet?

She has been disqualified from a professional exam because certain items
in the document, particularly security measures, have disappeared in the
completed document which she presented.

She is trying to get an authoritative ruling on the loss of data
including "important fields such as program range names and secret
IDs". She is also seeking proof, if possible.

She has posted on the Calc list and in the forum. Can anyone suggest
where else she might ask?
