Terry:

First off, Base is an addon product based on the HyperSonic SQL database. Thus
the problem encountered may not be repairable by the OpenOffice.org folks.

Second, there are few programmers willing to work with Base. Thus the amount
of
assets is smaller than that for Writer and Calc.

Third. You NEED TO VOTE on an issue. If you don't and state "me too" then the
problem
will NOT get fixed. I am working with an issue on the Mac involving JDBC
connections between Base
and MySQL. The problem is not with OpenOffice.org but rather the JDBC
connector that barely functions
on the Mac and will not connect to a MySQL database hosted on Linux (and MySQL
AB is well aware of this.)
The fix is to install the ODBC drivers for MySQL which do not exist for the
Intel Mac platform. The fix?
The community (that is you and me) must build these drivers, test them and then
make them available
to the public. Why am I bringing this up? Because the problem here may be
outside of the control of
the OpenOffice.org team. It is possible, although highly unlikely, that the
Oracle ODBC will not function
properly wth the configuration in question.
