You do not have to remove 1.1.4 from your computer unless you
want to do so. OOo 2.1.0 installs in a different folder than the one
1.1.4 is in. During the installation of 2.1.0, you will be notified
that it has detected 1.1.4. It will also ask you if you want to keep
the same settings as you already have in 1.1.4. You can have both of
these programs running at the very same time. I have done this a few
times myself.
