Yeah, I have tried that, too. No dice. I could point to the files but something didn't happen - I don't remember if the installation failed, or if it finished but then the language still showed no spell checker support. I am not in front of my friend's iMac at the minute, so I can't go back and double check, but I'll try and do that soon and post back here.

In any case, should it not be a straight forward case of just dropping the files manually into the right place and letting OOo (or even NeoOffice) do the rest? I am pretty sure this is what I had done to install them on my PPC. I am running both OOo and NeoOffice on the PPC, by the way; both recognize and work with the Greek spell checker.

Any idea what I'm supposed to do? I thought it was just a case of
dropping the necessary files in the proper dir locations.

PS My friends iMac is not on the Internet yet, so I can't use the
Install New Dictionaries... Wizard.

Are you sure you can not use the Install new Dictionaries wizard?
I just opened the wizard and clicked Start DicOOo. The first window
has a checkbox labeled Off-line language pack installation. When I
checked the box, I was given an opportunity to list where the
language pack was. Try this. It might work.
