Thanks to those who responded. What I ended up doing was using a little freeware program called Hotkeyz <http://www.skynergy.com/hotkeyz.html>. It allows you to build macros and assign hotkeys. This gave me the flexibility to choose any hotkey combination, unlike inside Writer. It works, but it would be better if Writer offered assigning hotkeys directly in the Special Caharacter menu the way word does. As it is I need to wait for the macro execution to finish before typin another letter.

There is a document explaining how to do that. It may be the "special characters" or another document listed on the page http://documentation.openoffice.org./HOW_TO/index.html If not, it is on one of the related pages in http://documentation.openoffice.org./ Regards, TerryJ -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/hot-keys-for-special-characters-tf2909666.html#a8135120 Sent from the openoffice - users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
