With OpenOffice, what you will download is not MS Word or MS Excel or MS
Powerpoint, but similar software that can read MS Word, Excel and
Powerpoint files (but the reverse is not true). OpenOffice Writer is
similar to MS Word, OpenOffice Calc is similar to MS Excel, OpenOffice
Presentation is similar to MS Powerpoint.
If you want other people to be able to open your OpenOffice files, and
they have only MS Office, you will have to save the documents in MS format.
