I am questioning the security of the password system on openoffice.org. I saved a spreadsheet with a simple password. I then looked at it with midnight commander in the ascii and hex modes. it showed a directory of about 10 files. I was unable to see the individual files, but I am concerned how much I can rely on this security.
I the password actually an encryption key? If so what encryption algorythym is being used. If the password is just a password, then I assume that a hex viewer and a unzip utility could view the files. I use an encrypted partition for all of my data files, but my concern is when I back up to cd/dvd/dvd-ram. thoughts? -- John R. Sowden AMERICAN SENTRY SYSTEMS, INC.
