With regard to the second point below, the risk is that users unfamiliar
with the site will, as I did, use the prominent search button in the
left-hand column, rather first than clicking on the (rather less-prominent)
«Search mailing list archive» button, and then on the «search body»
alternative. Having a multitude of choices at one's disposal can, indeed, be
quite useful at times, but considering the needs of OOo novices, it might
here be best to remove the first-named search button entirely, and instead
highlight the «Search mailing list archive» button....

There is a drop down list offering Search subjects, Search authors and
Search body. It defaults to the first of those.
