When you first save a text document or spreadsheet file in OOo, the bottom of the Save As window as a box labeled Save with Password. Click the box to put a check mark (tick) into it. Make sure the file has a name and you have selected the File type you want (Writer or Calc). Then click Save. You will be asked for a password and then asked to repeat the password. Just remember one thing: one you have password protected one of these files, it is almost impossible to open the file again without the proper password. Unless you used a simple password, password crackers could take possibly months to years to open the file.
