I know nothing about RHEL but something is fishy if openoffice.org is
installed in /etc and you're running it as root.
How was it installed?
Also, I don't see any "javaldx" processes while OOo is running on my FC5
x86 system. Maybe it's hung--whatever it is--and that's preventing OOo
from starting.
