Thanks found it. Why is this total outside the regular formatting? Why having multiple places in which numbering can be defined? Especially without guidance on the relationship. I have a similar problem with simple nested bullet lists right now. I wonder why it was done in such a messy way. Sometimes OO feels even more messed up than M$ office. And the interesting tidbits about the relationships between the formatting modes is not documented, at least not in the OO Writer guide or the online help.
