There's no icon in the system tray and no programs were open or running.

     You mentioned the Quickstarter. Did you close it before trying to 
remove 1.1.2? It is located in the System tray just to the left of 
the clock. It is a blue and gray icon with three birds flying in it. 
Right click it and select Exit. Then you should be able to remove 
1.1.2.
