Folks and John, thanks for your help. I have since found that the files are
indeed Oedipus genealogy program files. My fault in jumping to the wrong
conclusion from the ODP file suffix. I can read Dutch, and Oedipus is
freeware, so I have hit the jackpot. Could have saved myself some hair
tearing if I had gone looking for help earlier. Best of luck with
OpenOffice.

presentation files, but Oedipus genealogy files as well.
