You don't have to convert the documents in advance. When you use them,
OpenOffice will open them. But if they are very complex, you could have
some problems, and the conversion could not be exactly as you want.

Hi
I have just bought OpenOffice 2.0 from Dick Smith to replace Microsoft
Office 2000. I want to uninstall Office 2000 as it is creating problems.
I have skimmed the Guide, particularly relating to Writer- the function I
use most- and am very impressed and keen to start using it.
However what I have not found (or have missed) in the guide is how to
convert all my existing documents etc to OpenOffice format.
I am also not sure whether I should uninstall Office 2000 and then install
OpenOffice or vice versa.
Your advise would be greatly appreciated.
Judi
