1.1.4 and 2.1 can coexist, they automatically install to different
directories. You should have an Installation Guide as a pdf in your
download, if not it is available on the documentation page of the website.

Normally 2.1 will pick up your original settings and offer to reuse them.

If so, you will need to do a "custom" install.

I'm not a java guru at all, but you can certainly install without the
java, then add it and point OOo to the new java (in Tools - Options - Java)
