I haven't downloaded OpenOffice but am considering it.
Can I install the whole program and operate it whilst my MS Office
2003 and other MS products remain installed on the same PC?

Yes. Many of the people on this mailing list have both MS Office
and OOo installed on the same computer without any problems.
There is one thing that you need to be aware of. When installing
OOo (OpenOffice.org), make sure you do NOT tick (check) anything
mentioning MS Office programs. One page of the installer is for
people who want to change the file associations for their MS Office
files from MS Office to OOo. Again, leave these boxes unticked. You
will still be able to open MS Office file formats within OOo by using
File > Open and browsing to the desired file.
