This will, of course, negate any savings he realized by buying a computer with OOo installed. Too bad to do that to a student. Asking the author (this professor Orris) to develop an open-source version to work with Calc might benefit future victims, but even if the author had the best will in the World, he's not gonna complete a completely new version of a massive stats package for the current school year. Maybe a campaign of OOo users requesting a non-MS compatible version would help speed the process. The good prof must realize how much of a burden the MS Office requirement is on students, and how arbitrary, now that OOo is so mature. On a positive note, Allen might find older licenses for MS Office at a steep discount, now that Vista and Office 2007 are out. Of course, if he's got Vista, he might not be able to run the MegaStat plug-in regardless, and wouldn't that be ... er... ironic.
