Not sure I understand your problem. You should be able to open 1.x (sxc) spreadsheets and save them in 2.x (ods) format, using OOo (OpenOffice.org) version 1.1.5 or higher. In OOo version 2.x.x you can use "File -> Wizards -> Document Converter" to convert a batch of sxc files to ods format. Hope this helps.
