[users] Question

I downloaded OpenOffice.org a few days ago and an planning on purchasing 
Staroffice 8. When I downloaded Staroffice 8 I get no icon to access 
program, do I just use OpenOffice.org as I see I now have access to 
building templates which I did not have before,. I am confused.
