Hi,

Yes this will be possible, and as far as my experience goes OpenOffice opens and saves PowerPoint files very well. However some aspects of the presentation may look or act differently when viewed on Microsoft Software. Your children will have to make sure they save their files as PowerPoint files when they email them back (File -> Send -> Email as Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation or File -> Save As 'file type' PowerPoint') as MS Office is not capable of opening open document format files.

Hope this helps

My primary reason for downloading OpenOffice would be to allow my children to e-mail PowerPoint presentations they are doing at school to our home (as attachments), working on them at home, saving the changes and e-mailing back to their school e-mail addresses. Can this be done if their school uses PowerPoint and our home uses OpenOffice?
