*Hi Everyone,* first of all: I'm from Germany, so excuse my bad English! :(
Now my problem: I'm using Kubuntu with Kernel 2.6.17.11 and OpenOffice 2.1 and all the up-to-date stuff ... when I want to start OpenOffice by pressing the Shortcut, it shows for about 5 seconds the SplashScreen with the logo and then it aborts without any errormessage. The SplashScreen just disapears and nothing further happens. The same when I use the Bash. I tries everything: using the official pack, the kubuntu original source pack with apt-get, I tried to uninstall everything and reinstall it (even Java i reinstalled) ... I tried everything that is mentioned in this issue http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=5684 ... Gnome, KDE everything the same ... I've got no idea ...
