I know you don't use Windows, but there is a Windows program called AllChars which let you enter special characters easily (such as Ctrl c o produce a (c) and so on - the Ctrl key is pressed, then released, that's why I didn't type Ctrl+c o). Works in every application. Maybe there is something like it for Linux? Johnny

Dear John, The Windows app isn't necessary - inspired by our correspondence, I decided to do some further exploration and found, to my great joy that on my keyboard, the process «Alt Gr + Shift + the diaresis key» × 2 gives «ˇ», and «Alt Gr + Shift + the diaresis key» and then «c», «s», «z», or «ř» gives «č», «š», «ž», and «ř» respectively. Hallelujah !... Thanks a lot ! Henri
