Thank you Dan, You have all been so helpful. I understand that the full-install would be the best way to go. Will it be a problem if I do not have the orig. MS Powerpoint as far as converting files? ~Kathy*

Without Writer, you will have problems handling text if you will be able to add text to a slide at all. Without Draw, you will not be able to use graphics. So, you have to have these three at the very least. Not including Calc (spreadsheet) and Base (database) would save you perhaps 5 MB of harddrive space. This is only 2-3% of the total space required for a complete install. Who knows, you may want a spreadsheet on a slide for some reason at some point. That would require Calc. You might also find a need for a database some time in the future. All of this is true because OpenOffice.org is an integrated suite of applications that run on a core component. The applications contain about 1-2% each of the total program. The core contains the rest of the total. Dan ~Kathy W.
