Hi Kath
I have copied files done on my old computer that are text and done on
OpenOffice 1.1 becasue that program came with my computer. Now I have to
use a
laptop- don't have the room for OpenOffice and cannot open any text
files,
Google have an online word processor called "Writely". I've just tried it,
and it can open OpenOffice.org 1.1 documents. Because it is an online
program, you don't have to download anything.
Go to www.google.com, and click on "more", then "Docs and Spreadsheets".
You will need a Google ID so that you can sign in. If not, sign up for a
Google ID.
To open an existing document, click on "Upload". Click on the "Browse"
button near the top of your screen, and select the document you want to
open. Click on "Upload File", and the file will be added to your list of
Google documents.
Your document should now be open, and you can now print, edit or save the
document in various formats.
I haven't tried doing this before, and I'm surprised about how smooth and
easy it was to do.
I hope it works for you. Please email the list if you have further
questions.
Adrian
