Hi Russell,
The shortcuts for OOo 2.1 in my start menu are a bit weird. They don't point to an exe, but to the program directory. The simplest way to get what you want is to go to the shortcut in the start menu, then right-click and drag the one you want to your desktop. When you release the right button, click 'copy here' from the menu that appears. You can manually create a shortcut by right-clicking the desktop and selecting 'new', then 'shortcut', you can create a shortcut that works by pasting "G:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.1\program\soffice.exe" in the location box. If you want to run a particular module, add the name, preceded by a dash, like this "C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.1\program\soffice.exe" -calc.
