Could you explain why you think that a table is better than
frames? If it's only the selection thing I don't see a difference
here as a "select all" works in both cases (though you have to
press it twice for the frames).

Certainly. The first thing to come to mind is the ability to
vertically centre the text in a table cell - highly desirable in
label usage.

Secondly, I find it far easier (and natural) to knock up a table
for any unique label stock: symmetric cells are, after all, tabular
in nature. Creating and positioning frames is, to my way of
thinking, a very long way around the houses to reach a simple
solution.

Thirdly, tables are used by a well known competitor, lots of people
are familiar with them and doing something different just to be
different doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Interesting. Thanks, I will give it some thoughts.

There are other reasons, but it's past my bed-time and I'm not
thinking too well:-)

Don't hesitate to come up with more when you are well rested again.
:-)

Mathias, just a quick follow-up to clarify my comments.

I've been a fan and user of OpenOffice.org and its predecessor, Star
Office, since I first found Star Division in the mid 90s. Of particular
value has been the support of frames, so I wouldn't want you to think
that I'm in any way prejudiced against frames per se: it's just that I
think they are mis-placed in tabular structures such as label templates,
hence my original comments.
