Hi Rafael

I Found ONLY ONE, (Imposter) and i don't think there is a windows port of it Wow disappointing ... you think between Open Office, Sun and Open Source programmers, that there would be some ergentcy in providing one, or two mabe even three. (I'm sure it's an issue of demand.) Surely you don't expect or want windoze people to do it.

Two points about "non-windows" people doing it:

1. You're complaining that no Windows version is available;
2. Linux people often tend to prefer one good version rather than three or four versions of a program.

As far as I understand, there are a lot more Windows users of OpenOffice.org than Linux users.

Please understand my disapointment, I've created some great presentations but they are not portable!!! I love Open Office!!!

I do understand you disappointment. I'm confident that one day your need will be filled, though possibly not as soon as we would like. I often use the PDF option. In the meantime, here are some suggestions about making your presentations more portable:

1. You could export your presentation as PDF or Flash. PDF is an excellent option if you're not relying on fancy transitions or sounds, because Acrobat reader has a presentation mode.

2. You could install OpenOffice.org on the computers you are playing the presentations on. It's free, and won't interfere with the other computers in any way other than allowing OpenOffice.org files to be opened on them. The more people you introduce OpenOffice.org to, the more portable your files will be. ;-)

3. You could also consider exporting the presentations as Powerpoint files if you do presentations on computers where MS Office is already installed (or the free Powerpoint viewer).

Possibly a combination of these solutions would be best, although I admit not ideal.

Finally, I'll just do a quick Google search (which I probably should have done before starting to answer you), and write some interesting links below:

Independent Presentation Viewer
http://indeview.org/
(a work in progress that looks interesting but probably not what you're after)

2003 Discussion
http://api.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgId=995035
A discussion about approaches of doing this in 2003 which hasn't seemed to go much further

Publishing Your Impress Presentation
http://blogs.sun.com/oootnt/category/Impress
Some suggestions from late last year. Not quite what you're looking for, but interesting.

Visioo Writer
http://visioo-writer.tuxfamily.org/EN/
A project for making an OpenDocument viewer. There is a Windows download. I don't know how well it works, or whether it views Impress files.

I suppose these links confirm your concerns. They offer some promise for the future, but no immediate (or short term) fix. For the moment, I recommend playing your presentations on either OpenOffice.org, Adobe Acrobat Reader, or MS Powerpoint.
