If you need to present on somebody else's computer you could try downloading openoffice onto a flash drive (see http:// portableapps.com/apps/office/openoffice_portable) This will let you run OpenOffice straight from the flash drive without installing it on a strangers computer, and thus open your Impress file.

Hope this helps

I don't knwo how it is with version 2.1, but the versions before I tried to use from CD and that works. No installation needed, just copy the entire instalation directory on the cd and start openoffice impress from there. If you have the presentation on the cd as well, it is easy to take with you. The only thing is that it is slower. To solve that, you could just copy the openoffice directory to the harddisk (temporarily) and run the show from there.

Without the entire suite running i.e stand alone player ?

You can use the suite as standalone player by starting it as simpress -show <your-presentation> The whole suite needs to be installed, but you don't see it while playing.
