What is the meaning of "LOOKUP is only retained for backwards compatibility."? Does this mean LOOKUP will not be further developed and maybe discontinued in a future release of OOo?
Does any one have specific experience with LOOKUP? TerryJ <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Walter Hildebrandt-2 wrote: > > What is an array in Calc LOOKUP? > > LOOKUP can return the contents of an array. I remember seeing a comment recently to the effect that LOOKUP is only retained for backwards compatibility. I've never used it but I believe that Help is wrong in implying that you can enter an array as anything other than a range of a single column or row. As your questions suggests, there is no other syntax for entering an array, except possibly ;(A1;A4;B2;C3); - which you could try. It's unlikely that you need to use it. There are HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP and INDEX with MATCH. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/array-in-Cacl-LOOKUP-tf3286125.html#a9141270 Sent from the openoffice - users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------- Now that's room service!
