My copy of OpenOffice.org (OOo) allows me to save text files in
Starwriter 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 so it would seem logical that OOo will
also read starwriter formats. I also noticed that the file extension
for that is .swx. This is the same format as OOo 1.x versions. That
is because OOo's word processor is based upon Starwriter.
My suggestion is to install OOo onto your computer if you have
not already done so. Then you will be able to read all of your
starwriter files. You can also convert them to other formats, but I
would not suggest doing that. You could loose a certain amount of
formating in the process. (Conversions are seldom if ever perfect.)
To download OOo go to http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/. If
you are using any of the window's versions from 98SE to Vista,
download the Window's version.
