Thank you Dave Barton and Brian Barker:
I had been using file-print- properties and selecting landscape. It prints
portrait (unless I change the default).
Now, per your replies, I have tried format-page-landscape. It prints
landscape!!!!!!
Now, interestingly, having done the above, if I subsequently enter
file-print-properties, it doesn't matter what I select, it prints landscape.
So, the format-page route overrides. If I want to go back to portrait I
must enter format-page-portrait. The file-print-properties route does not
have any influence. Is this normal? I have not experienced this before. It
is not the case with my Epson Stylus Photo R200 which I also have on line.
Thank you gentlemen for your vey helpful advice.

To CP Hennessy: Thank you for your reply of Feb. 25. I downloaded
Open Ofice.org:2.1. Unfortunately, it did not correct the
orientation problem. No, I had not received an answer from anyone
else. I appreciate your suggestion and help. Don Jarvis

[ MODERATED ] ******************** Hi Users: I am using version
2.0 of Open Office.org. I have just purchased a Samsung ML2010
black only laser printer. When printing a document if I select
landscape orientation the document is printed in portait. This
only occurs when I am in Open Office. The landscape setting
works if I am printing something from the internet. When within
Open Office, the only way I can print in landscape is to change
the printer default setting to landscape. But then, it will print
only in landscape. Samsung technical people say there is a
problem between the Open Office program and the printer driver.
Any suggestions? I don't really want to be changing the default
every time I want to change orientation.
Hi Don, Can you try the latest version of OpenOffice.org : 2.1 ?

Maybe your question has been answered already?
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/#FAQ
I believe Samsung's technical people have been lazy and/or incompetent
in the advice they have given you. I have set up OOo (OpenOffice.org) on
hundreds of computers with printers from many different manufacturers
(including Samsung) and I never encountered a situation where the
printer's default orientation needs to be changed.
Have you set the page orientation to landscape in *both* OOo page format
and your printer control.
If you are using the "Print File Directly" button on the toolbar, try
using "Menu -> File -> Print..." and then use the printer "properties"
button to access your printer control, where you should be able to set
the landscape format just for this document.
If this works as expected, save the document and you should not need to
reset the page orientation again if you reprint the document in future.
Hope this helps.
